A friend passed me this book just a week ago she said she seen it on Oprah read it and said i just must read it ... Well what can i say its as good as they say it is..I had been battling my tears from the outset…and so will you.
Brave, brutal, simple and stark --- James Frey’s journey, where he writes: “There is sadness, insanity and ruin.”
This is a compelling read, even if you have never gotten falling down drunk, had a blackout, or so high the shadows have a life of their own. It’s not important. As I walk, down each step of Frey’s journey towards recovery, sometimes I felt there, sitting right next to him, seeing the same things.
The way Frey describes looking around at his fellow man in the rehab for the first time; the fear leaps off the page, and into me. As I read on it was not only his style, I liked his sardonic wit. This man had been to hell. I didn’t go with him; I walk next to him on the journey back.
If you read this you will too.
“…and for a brief second I feel strong. Not strong enough to face myself, but strong enough to keep going.”
So anyway i recomend that you grab a copy if you can get one and i dont say that about many books .... This is one of those books you dont put down and dont answer the phone for ... I hope you love it as much as i have ...
if you want to read an excert you can read the first few pages here .. go on have a taste
